This painting was done for a very good friend of mine who camped in a remote area of South Point, Big Island. Setting up a" bamboo ridge" of fishing poles, they fished for a weekend. The South Point on the Big Island of Hawaii is the southern-most point in the United States. Among Hawaii fisherman it is a favorite fishing location. This area is difficult to get to since there are no roads and requires 4 wheel drive vehicles to traverse the sharp lava fields. The painting is done with mixed media including watercolor and collage to create the textured rock formations.
